Ode to a Peach

With liquid
dribbling down
my chin
onto the floor
and fingers
sticky wet with
juicy sweetness
as I lip soft
flesh melting
against my
tongue and teeth.
The warmth of
sunlit gold
caresses with
each bite of
pinkish radiating
out from
amber center
nestled along
the corrugated
canyons of
the pip.
And then it's
gone.

Dreamer

To you the dreamer
given dreams beyond
your ken -
you cannot know
the ache
of laying heart
upon the altar
where hope
lies burning in
flamed despairing
desire spoken.
Perhaps the tempered
steel in soul
is worth the burning,
but the pain of
killing dreams
to build another
leaves searing
scars upon the soul.

At Midnight

At midnight's call
in waking sleepless
hours of the day
she waits and
faints at thought
of impossibilities
possible perhaps
when looking back
through time
in space and
wandering in
the darkness
looking up
to see the stars
she weeps to know
the burdens she
must bear before
she reaches
safety and the shore.

Song of Stars

In pain
my heart
beats for
you in
fear that
time and
distance
might dim
the spark
that never
had a
chance to burst
to flame.
To wish
that destiny
might grant
another
moment
filled in
shadowed
sunlit
light;
perchance
the spark
might flower
and bloom
with all
the yearning
wish of years
in slumber kept
across the ocean
of our dreams.
And doubt
this weary
heart
o’ercome
in tear stained
nights
of what-ifs
that murder
love - and hope
that is hard to
quell amid
the chaos of
the indifferent
sobbing stars.

Limbo

Limbo is a kind of hell.
Stuck between two worlds.
In neither feeling home.

Starry Night

Last night
under
star-strewn sky
I sat awhile
and dreamed
into the wells
of space and time
of you and me
and light
and lonely
clouded prisms
shining in the
black.
