Upon a Bridge One Night

For a moment
there -
he rested
his heart upon
her shoulder
and wept
until the
poison of
inadequacy
subsided
paused in
comfort's touch.

She laid aside
her angered
grief to calm
another's soul -
with eyes
closed and
covered ears
she gave what
only could be felt.

Perhaps this
sort of love
needs no
fiery embrace
but moment's
calm and
tender hope
to assuage
the pain of
life.

Resurrection

In darkest death
My soul entombed.
Bindings of sin
wound
in strangling pain
and distance from
the light -
Anoint my
soul in
Gilead's balm
and lift my
heart and hand
in thine.
Unwrap the
grasp of death
to bring me
out into
the sun.
