Mirrored Friendship

They sat
at midnight
whispering
out life's secrets
in tear-stained
hope and
pains,
joys amid
the words
of dreaming
history.
Sisters two
alike and
different,
saw the other
momentarily
in clearer
likeness
despite the
flaws of
rippled glass.
Light reflects
when likeness
finds,
and magnifies
the good.

Asphyxiation

drowning
in the
oceans of
words pouring
down my
throat
into my
soul.
asphyxiating
slowly,
choking
on fattened
vowels and
dry consonants.
why do words
torture?
maim our
souls -
and leave
us gasping for breath.

Fruit in Eden

The fruit
she plucked
in verdant Eden
was bland.
Only after
in desert
wilderness
amid the
heel-biting
serpents
was the fruit
sweet
and delicious
to the taste.

Letters from God

Cracked
imperfect vessels
stood
laying hands
upon the
broken
fatigued;
weary-laden
soul.

With mortal
words they
spoke
and uttered
sacred love;
promises divine.
Salutations
from loving
Father
who knows
both
receiver
and giver
well.

He knows
what
balm to pour
from
stuttering lips
and hearts
to seal the cracks
and make
for a
moment
Heaven
amid mortality
and
the imperfect
whole.
