Thirst

Not in deserts
but rather oceans
do we feel
unquenchable thirst
and lift our
heads
and
hands
and
hearts
to scream with
entitled (?) anger
mixed with hurt and
shame.
No mocking glances
quell
the heartache
not knowing
why we cannot drink
while others
never seem to thirst.

It is only in the drought
where we know
the worth of
true water
and long for it
even more.
